Arabian Business published an article on Sun 01 Oct 2017 talking about a petition circulated by Republicans Overseas, calling for an end to citizen based taxation (CBT). The hope is to decrease the cost of hiring Americans overseas, thus helping organizations increase their American employee base and consequently increasing American exports of goods and services.

The tax system for expats will change significantly if the petition is carried through. The petition is set to be delivered to the US President Donald Trump as part of the Tax Reform Package currently under review.
